2017 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir
This Anderson Valley Pinot Noir is composed mostly of Dijon 667 clone and Pommard clone. This cool climate Pinot Noir is vibrant with a vivacious and fresh acid balance. Decomposed sandstone, shale and river stone (Casabonne Formation) limit the vine’s vigor thus increasing the wine’s concentration and depth. The wine is fermented naturally as whole clusters for maximum complexity. Aged in neutral french oak casks. This wine is unfined and unfiltered to highlight its expression of terroir.
This Pinot Noir has light tannins with a rich, juicy fruit core. The goal of this wine is to achieve complexity without overbearing tannin or alcohol. The nose presents dried chaparral, and raspberry bramble. The palate has a crisp, red fruit flavor with a crunchy, Mirabelle plum core and savory undertones of dried herbs. This is a gentle wine that is extremely palatable now and for the next 5-10 years. Pair with poultry and salmon.
